Pennsylvania Environmental Council
The Pennsylvania Environmental Council (PEC) is a non-profit working to improve the quality of life for Pennsylvanians by enhancing the Commonwealth's natural and built environments. This mission is realized by integrating advocacy, education and implementation of community and regional action projects. The Council works to inform and shape legislative and regulatory decision-making on environmental issues of importance in Pennsylvania. PEC is also working to support sound planning at the municipal and county-levels. Focus areas for PEC include: land use planning, rivers conservation, riverfront restoration, renewable energy, trails and recreational planning, and work with municipal environmental advisory councils across the state.
Enterprising Environmental Solutions, Inc.
Enterprising Environmental Solutions, Inc., (EESI) is a unique public-private partnership that is working to share knowledge and identify best practices in environmental protection, policy innovation and economic performance around the world. Established by the Pennsylvania Environmental Council and other members of the Governor's 21st Century Environment Commission, EESI works to replicate successful initiatives and demonstrate innovative approaches, advancing environmental policy and supporting hands-on implementation of environmental solutions. EESI is focused in the areas of market-based environment quality enhancement, pollution prevention, sustainable energy, green building design, and land use.
Berks County Community Foundation
Berks County Community Foundation is a nonprofit corporation founded in 1994 whose purpose is to develop, manage and distribute funding to meet existing and emerging community needs. The mission of Berks County Community Foundation is to promote philanthropy and improve the quality of life of the residents of Berks County. Berks County Community Foundation is today one of the fastest growing community foundations in the country. Through permanent endowments created from charitable gifts, the Community Foundation makes grants to charitable organizations and provides philanthropic giving referral services for interested individuals. The Community Foundation to works with these philanthropic individuals to create positive change in the community.
Community Foundation for the Alleghenies
The Community Foundation for the Alleghenies is a nonprofit public foundation that works with donors to develop funds that benefit Cambria, Somerset, Bedford and parts of Indiana counties in western Pennsylvania. The Community Foundation also works with larger foundations to help support fields of interest, such as the environment and environmentally sustainable business initiatives throughout western Pennsylvania. Founded in 1990, assets of the Community Foundation total $25 million in 277 endowed and pass-through funds. Through project grants or matching funds, the Community Foundation disburses funds for the environment, arts and humanities, education, scholarships, community and economic development, children and youth, health and human services, heritage programs, civic affairs and religion.
