KCT Helps Pilot New Audubon Strategy
Audubon Pennsylvania is embarking on a new strategy to implement conservation plans for Important Bird Areas (IBAs) across the state. This first-of-its-kind effort will serve as a model for IBA conservation action across the country. KCT is assisting Audubon Pennsylvania in formulating and piloting a new, systematic approach which integrates issues of science, economics, politics, land use and community.
Audubon Pennsylvania has identified 84 IBAs across the state, encompassing over two million acres. This new strategy will be piloted this year with IBAs in southeastern Pennsylvania, including:
- Blue Marsh Lake
- Fairmount Park
- Green Lane Reservoir
- Hay Creek
- Kittatinny Ridge
- Pennypack Creek
- Quakertown Swamp
- Unami Creek Valley
- Upper Ridley Creek
- Wissahickon Creek
